The Lusangi Gospel Choir, situated in Kolding in the southern part of Jutland in Denmark and being the biggest gospel choir in Kolding, was established  more than 30 years ago as a choir for young people connected to YMCA – the world wide Christian organisation.

Lusangi has been a gospel choir since 1998.

We are about 60 members practising every Thursday evening in the church of Brændkjær in Kolding.

We start at 7.30 p.m. and sing together until 10 o’clock p.m. with a coffee break at about 9 o’clock. We end every evening having a sharing time and saying a few prayers together.

We give concerts all over Denmark supported buy our skilled band consisting of a key board player, a drummer and a bassplayer.

Our president or forewoman, Christine Refshauge, has been a member of our choir for more than half of her entire life. She is our co-conductor whenever our normal choirmaster is not available. She is very dedicated and takes care of all of the members in the best way. She is also a composer and textwriter of some of our songs. She makes her living as a teacher on a continuation school in Rinkenæs (near the German border).

Our choirmaster, Henrik Engelbrekt Refshauge, is a very dynamic man with an incredible energy. Apart from conducting our choir he is also a minister and a journalist. He is a very impressive man who knows how to make every member of the choir do their very best and the audience join the choir clapping their hands and singing along in our concerts. He is also a composer and textwriter of songs which we sing in our choir.

Since 2005 we have a gospel festival once a year, the Kolding Gospel Festival. People from all over the country take part in this event which ends with a big concert at the church of Brændkjær.
